Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu Architecture

Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu is an Application Modernization tool for migration of legacy applications to new cloud native platforms.

Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu scans the vCenters for workloads or VMs and applications running on them using guest operations and identifies the components. Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu supports registering to vRealize Network Insight to extract data flows and design the topology of an application spread across multiple environments. Current version of Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu supports flow data collection from both vRealize Network Insight and vRealize Network Insight Cloud.

Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu supports focussed containerization of applications running on Oracle WebLogic Server, Tomcat and also containerization of any component and pushes the containerized OCI image to the image registry.

For improving customer experience, Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu optionally also collects some telemetry data and sends it to VMware’s Supercollider data lake. The customer has the choice to turn it off from the management UI of the appliance. The data is collected anonymously. However, we tag data with an anonymous ID unique to an appliance deployment so that VMware can distinguish the deployments. Application Transformer for VMware Tanzu collects:

• the components that were detected in the operating systems during the scan.
  Note: Names of virtual machines and any process data are not collected.

• the custom signature and any custom scripts you upload to the appliance, if any.
