You can distribute Horizon FLEX license keys from the Horizon FLEX server to automatically activate the Horizon FLEX Client.

End users receive the correct license key when they connect to the Horizon FLEX server. You do not need to update the license key on each end point. You can also set the target Horizon FLEX Client version.

Moreover, if the Horizon FLEX Client version does not meet the version that you configured on the Horizon FLEX server, the warning message you configured appears in the Horizon FLEX Client to provide the user with assistance.

Procedure

  1. In the Horizon FLEX Admin Console, click the General System Settings icon and select License Management.
  2. Click Configure client license.
  3. Fill out the Client License Management form.

The name of this option is Minimum client version or Required client version depending on the value you select for the preceding option.
    Minimum client version

The name of this option is Minimum client version when you select Latest for the preceding option.

If you want end users to upgrade the Horizon FLEX Client, for example for a security patch, you do not need to upgrade the Horizon FLEX server. Instead, you can configure this setting to a minimum version that is higher than the minimum the server already enforces.
    Required client version

The name of this option is Required client version when you select Fixed for the preceding option.

If you want end users to keep the specified version, you can configure this setting to a version that is equal to the version the Horizon FLEX server already enforces.

Client license key Enter the Horizon FLEX Client license key.
    Update server

Enter the URL from which end users can download the Horizon FLEX Client installation package when the current version of their client is not allowed to receive the license.

Display this message to notify the client user for client software update Enter a message that tells end users what actions they can take when the current version of their client is not allowed to receive the license.
  4. Click OK.
From this point forward, each time an end user uses the Horizon FLEX Client to connect to the Horizon FLEX server, the client sends information to the Horizon FLEX server. The server displays some of the information, such as the Horizon FLEX Client version number, on the Users page in the Horizon FLEX Admin Console. See Step 5

The server does not return the client license key until it verifies that client meets the target version requirement. If the target required version is not met, the server sends the message you created to the end user, prompting the user to upgrade the client. Once the server verifies that the client meets the target version requirement, the server sends the license key to the client and the client applies the key.

  5. To monitor user information related to the Horizon FLEX Client, in the future, occasionally, click Users in the Horizon FLEX Admin Console.
The Users page displays information about each user who successfully connects to Horizon FLEX server. The information includes the user name, host name, and Horizon FLEX Client version for each user.
