What is Kubernetes Cloud Provider for VMware Cloud Director?

In this document, you can learn about Kubernetes Cloud Provider for VMware Cloud Director™ 1.4 that is supported with VMware Cloud Director™ Container Service Extension™ 4.1 and newer versions.

Kubernetes Cloud Provider for VMware Cloud Director works with VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension clusters to provide clusters with VMware Cloud Director™ that has VMware NSX^® Advanced Load Balancer™ capabilities for cluster lifecycle management and Kubernetes LoadBalancer services. Kubernetes Cloud Provider for VMware Cloud Director implements node control loops and service control loops. This allows clusters to have VMware Cloud Director VM lifecycle management and Kubernetes LoadBalancer services that are backed by NSX Advanced Load Balancer technology.

A user with the Kubernetes Cluster Author role should operate Kubernetes Cloud Provider for VMware Cloud Director in a VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension 4.0 cluster. For more information, see Required Roles.
