You can calculate the cost for each virtual machine and resources.
Prerequisites
- Configure vCenter. For details, see Configuring vRealize Operations Tenant App with vCenter
- Verify that you have installed the vRealize Operations Manager version 7.0 or later.
Procedure
- On the left pane, click Metering > Configuration tab.
- Select the Pricing Policies > Add New Policy.
- To create a pricing policy:
Option Description Base Settings - Enter the Policy Name.
- Select the Pricing Policy Type from the drop-down menu.
- Enter a valid description for the Policy Description and click Next.
CPU Rate and Storage Rate You can charge the CPU rate based on GHz or VCPU Count. - For the Base rate, select the Charge Period and Charge Based on from the drop-down menu.
- Enter a valid number to calculate the Base Rate price.
- Select the Charge Based on Power State by selecting the charge from the drop-down menu.
- For Fixed Cost, enter a valid number to calculate the cost per GHz or per unit.
- Click Next.
Memory Rate - For the Base rate, select the Charge period from the drop-down menu.
- Select the Charge Based on.
- Enter the Base Rate and Fixed Rate.
- Select the Charge Based on Power State from the drop-down menu.
Network Rate - Enter the External Network Transmit and External Network Receive rates.
- Under Network Transmit Rate, select the Change Period from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the Base Rate and Fixed Cost.
- Under Network Receive Rate, select the Change Period from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the Fixed Cost.
Advanced Network Rate - Enter the base rate, fixed cost, charge period information in the displayed fields.
- Select the necessary size from the drop-down for each of the items under Edge Gateway Size.
Guest OS Rate - Enter the Guest OS Name.
- Select the Charge Period and Charge Based on Power state from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the Fixed and Base rate.
VM Tag Rate - Enter the Tag Key and Tag Value.
- Select the Charge Period and Charge Based on Power state from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the Fixed and Base rate.
VCD Metadata Rate - Enter the Metadata.
- Select the Charge Period and Charge Based on Power state from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the Fixed and Base rate.
Review Review the summary and click Finish. - From the list of Resources, select a resource pool or a cluster and click Assign.
- Select any name to assign the policy to the selected resource pool/cluster and click Assign.
You can see the assigned policy name under the selected resource.
