Introduction

You can use the Management Pack for vCloud Director with vRealize Operations Manager. The Management Pack for vCloud Director monitors the health of supported vCloud Director entities and sends early warning alerts for monitored Provider Virtual Data Center (VDC) objects

What's New

• Edge devices of vCloud Director are now connected to Edge devices from the NSX-V management pack enabling enhanced troubleshooting and metering.
• Independent disks are collected from vCloud Director.
• Sizing profiles are collected from vCloud Director. Each VM that is provisioned using a sizing profile, has an additional property to indicate the sizing profile used.
• Reports now support comprehensive metering using the new metrics collected.

Compatibility

• Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.3 is supported only on vRealize Operations Manager 8.1.

Resolved Issues

• Manual discovery times out in large vCloud adapter instances

  In large environments, when you attempt to manually discover a newly created vCloud Adapter instance, the manual discovery times out.

   

• Objects appear in both vCloud provider and vCloud tenant traversal

  Providing access to objects on one of the traversal spec list causes objects to appear in both vCloud provider and vCloud tenant traversal.

   

• First collection cycle of Management Pack for vCloud Director takes additional time to complete

  If the vCloud Director environment is large, the first collection cycle of the Management Pack for vCloud Director might take time to complete and initiate first discovery of the environment.

• vApps take more time for data collection in vRealize Operations Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.1

  After you configure adapter instance for the Management Pack for vCloud Director, vApps take more time for data collection.

   

Known Issues

• Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.3 is not supported in vRealize Operations Manager 8.0.1 and earlier versions

  Since the Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.3 uses Jackson 2.10, which is not backward compatible with vRealize Operations Manager 8.0.1 Jackson 2.9, there are run time exceptions on upgrading/installing the Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.3 in vRealize Operations Manager 8.0.1 and earlier versions.

  Workaround: vRealize Operations Manager 8.0.1 must be upgraded to 8.1 in order to support the Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.3.

• Single Sign-On login is not supported by the Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.3

  Single sign-on is one of the authorization mechanisms vCloud Director supported to access it's resources. Currently, vcd rest_utils has removed this support because the user can use other authorization channels like system/tenant credentials to access the same resources.

  Workaround: Use system/tenant credentials to achieve the same functionality.

• Duplicate VM sizing policies from the Management Pack for vCloud Director

  There are duplicate VM sizing policies from the Management Pack for vCloud Director such as:

  • System Default (orgVDC-<ipaddress>-ReservationReservationPool-Policy)
  • System Default (orgVDC-<ipaddress>-ReservationReservationPoolMaxPolicy)
  • System Default (orgVDC-<ipaddress>-AllocationVApp-Policy)
  • System Default (orgVDC-<ipaddress>-New-PAYGAllocationVApp-Policy)
  • System Default (orgVDC-<ipaddress>-AllocationAllocationPool-Policy)

  Workaround: Differentiate by policy ID or OrgVDC relationships.

• The relationship between Cloud cell and vCloud vCenter is missing for VMware vCloud Director 9.7 and later versions

  There are relationship changes between Cloud cell and vCenter for VMware vCloud Director 9.7 and later versions. The Management Pack for vCloud Director 5.3 does not display the relationship between Cloud cell and vCenter within vRealize Operations Manager.
