After you install a management pack, add and configure an instance to start collecting data.
Prerequisites
Ensure that both SMI-S Agent and SLPv2 are enabled on Fabric CIM Server. Contact your CIM Server vendor to get the required support on enabling the agents and configuring the fabric and switch profiles.
Note: The first step in managing a network of SAN elements is discovering the location and support available on CIM Server through SLP (Service Location Protocol). The
vRealize Operations Management Pack for Storage Devices uses SLPv2 to discover SMI-S services, gather information on provided services and the URLs where those services are located.
Procedure
Results
The adapter is added to the Adapter Instance list and is active.
What to do next
To verify that the adapter is configured and collecting data from the objects in the storage topology, wait a few collection cycles, then view application-related data.
- Inventory Explorer. Verify that all the objects related to the Fabric Server Instance are listed. Objects should be in the collecting state and receiving data.
If your environment includes multiple vCenter Server systems on the same storage network, you must create as many Fabric CIM Servers as the network configuration requires.
