You can now use all the capabilities of VMware Chargeback in VMware Aria Operations. To get started, migrate your existing Chargeback settings to VMware Aria Operations.
Perform the following steps to migrate the existing settings and configuration of VMware Chargeback to VMware Aria Operations:
Procedure
- To migrate to VMware Aria Operations, from the left menu, click Migration.
- Click INITIATE MIGRATION.
- Select the checkbox to agree to the migration process and click MIGRATE.
- The migration process completes each steps given below.
Note:
Once the migration is initiated, the features in Chargeback becomes view-only and can no longer be used.

Email Configuration |
Migrates all your valid email configurations.
Note: Invalid or configurations not associated with any of Organization VDCs after VMware Aria Operations retention period will not be migrated.

Pricing Policies |
Migrates existing pricing policies from pricing configuration menu and policy assignments to VMware Aria Operations Policies.
Skipped: Pricing policies are skipped as they have already migrated to VMware Aria Operations.
Policies Disabled: Policies that require enabling or reassignment in VMware Aria Operations after being deactivated during a migration.
Failed Assignment Policies: VMware Aria Operations policies are heavily utilized, so automatic policy assignments can't be done during the migration. It is recommended to proceed with policy assignments immediately to ensure continuous pricing calculations.
Failed: Multiple policy assignment to resources or failure to migrate due to errors.

Notification Rules |
Migrates all the notification rules. You can check the status of all the notification rule:
- Skipped: Tenant notification rules are skipped as they have already migrated to VMware Aria Operations.
- Disabled: Tenant notification rules are deactivated when related resources are removed or email configuration is erased.
- Content Change: When the tenant notification rules content is updated/changed (Email address or recipient address) after migration.

Report Schedules |
Migrates all the Report Schedules.
Skipped: Report Schedules are skipped as they have already migrated to VMware Aria Operations.
Disabled: Report schedules that have their related resources removed or their email configuration removed are deactivated.
Content Change: Report Schedules content is updated or changed (email address or recipient address) after migration.

Tenant Reports |
Migrates all the tenant reports. Skipped: Tenant Reports are skipped as they have already migrated to VMware Aria Operations. |
Bill Retention Settings |
Migrates the data retention value. |
Plugin Registration and Cleanup |
Migrates all the plugins registered with VMware Aria Operations. Skipped: VMware Cloud Director endpoints in VMware Aria Operations not registered as Chargeback plugins or endpoints which are registered as plugins in Chargeback before 8.10 Chargeback release.
Note:
Plugins not migrated successfully should be registered from VMware Aria Operations explictly. For more details refer Migration Logs in VMware Aria Operations.

Copying Generated Bills |
Migrates generated bills.

Results
Note:
Chargeback functionalities are available in Aria Operations to use once Plugin Registration and Cleanup step is completed. Copying Generated Bills step will be running in background and completes.
Migration is successfully completed.
You can view migration logs at VMware Aria Operation -> Administration -> Audit -> Chargeback Migration Audit.
