NOTES:

  • VMware Site Recovery Manager 8.5.x was the last general version that supports storage policy protection groups (SPPGs). You must either remove or migrate your SPPGs to regular array-based replication protection groups before upgrading to Site Recovery Manager 8.7.0.x Site Recovery Manager 8.5.0.5 and 8.6.x has a dedicated Storage Policy Protection Group (SPPG) migration tool that you can use to migrate your SPPGs to regular array-based replication protection groups. See, Migrating Storage Policy Protection Groups to Array-Based Replication Protection Groups to learn how to use the tool.

  • If the vCenter Server instances on the protected and recovery sites are in Enhanced Linked Mode, they must be direct replication partners. Otherwise, upgrade might fail.

Resolved Issues

  • After upgrading the Site Recovery Manager appliance, the NTP service is not working

After you upgrade the Site Recovery Manager virtual appliance from an earlier version to version 8.7.0.2, the NTP service is not working properly.

This issue is fixed in Site Recovery Manager 8.7.0.3.

  • The test failback operation might fail with an error

While performing a test failback on Virtual Volumes datastores, the operation might fail with the following error: Error - No hosts with hardware version '19' and datastore(s) '"xxx"' which are powered on and not in maintenance mode are available.

This issue is fixed in Site Recovery Manager 8.7.0.3.

  • The Site Recovery Manager service stops responding after performing a failover

If the peerId of a storage device is not set correctly, the Site Recovery Manager service might stop responding. The Site Recovery Manager logs show the following error.

--> Panic: Assert Failed: !(_peerId.empty()) (DSInfoData: Peer Id cannot be NULL.) @ ../../public/providers/abr/common/abrUtils/recoverySpecHelper.h:149

This issue if fixed in Site Recovery Manager 8.7.0.3.

  • Test failover operation fails due to an issue with snapshot creation

While performing a test failover, the operation might fail during snapshots creation. The Site Recovery Manager logs indicate that Site Recovery Manager is searching for NvME initiators, even though no NvME initiators are configured during setup.

YYYY-MM-DDT17:02:52.397Z warning vmware-dr[02106] [SRM@6876 sub=Storage opID=1080faf9-8aab-4e9d-92ce-38ad1825757a-test:ea81:4ff7:342e:24fc] Failed to obtain initiators for NVMe access group 'xxx'

This issue if fixed in Site Recovery Manager 8.7.0.3.
