Uhana by VMware uses real-time subscriber level signaling and traffic events streamed 4G/LTE and 5G/NR network elements, specifially eNodeBs, gNodeBs, and mobility management entity (MMEs) from the mobile core.
Service delivery and platform installation - Uhana by VMware is delivered as an on-premise managed service using a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. Platform operations are performed by VMware personnel and include installation, operations, monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and proactive troubleshooting of all system components. Tasks are performed by the VMware site reliability engineering (SRE) team.
Dimensioning and scale - Uhana by VMware can either be installed on top of private cloud infrastructure of the mobile network operator or optionally in public clouds. The mobile network operator is responsible for providing adequate compute capacity which is determined based on the scale of the data sources and functionality required. Data sources - eNodeBs, gNodeBs, and MMEs are configured to stream telemetry data directly to the Uhana by VMware platform. Consult with your main SRE contact to determine IP address and port information for Uhana by VMware to ingest and process these data sources.

Users and security - Uhana exposes raw or processed data to northbound systems. Depending on the consumption mechanism, different levels of authentication are possible. The web-based dashboard offers authentication options such as local users or authentication and authorization using external authentication mechanisms such as SSO. See Understand users and security.
