Log helps to troubleshoot any problem related to AppDefense Appliance.


You are having problems related to AppDefense Appliance and are requested to upload the appliance log files from the VMware Technical Support.


  1. SSH to the AppDefense Appliance using the admin credentials.
    For example, SSH admin@<Appliance_IP_Address>.
  2. Go to /var/log/appdefense and compress the logs with tar or zip command, such as tar zcvf /tmp/appd_logs.tar.gz /var/log/appdefense.
  3. Use SCP (secure copy) or WinSCP to securely copy file to the required location.
  4. You can provide the exported logs to the VMware AppDefense technical support team.
