When you run actions in VMware Aria Operations Management Pack for Horizon, you change the state of VMware Horizon objects. You run one or more actions when you encounter objects where the configuration or state of the object is affecting your environment. These actions allow you to reclaim wasted space, adjust memory, or conserve resources.

This procedure for running actions is based on the VMware Aria Operations Actions menus and is commonly used when you are troubleshooting problems. The available actions depend on the type of objects with which you are working.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that the VMware Horizon Adapter is configured to run actions for each vCenter Server VM connected to the Horizon VDI Desktop Session object.
  • Ensure you have VMware Tools version 11.0.1 and above installed and running on the VM.
  • You can not perform actions on unmanaged machines.

Procedure

  1. Select the object in the Environment page inventory trees or select one or more objects it in a list view.
  2. Click Actions on the main toolbar or in an embedded view.
  3. Select one of the actions.
  4. To run the action on the object, select the check box and click OK.
The action runs and a dialog box appears that displays the task ID.
  5. To view the status of the job and verify that the job finished, click the task ID or click OK to close the dialog box.
The Recent Tasks list appears, which includes the task you just started. Refresh the page to see the latest updates on the tasks.

What to do next

To verify that the job is completed, click Environment > Object Browser in the menu and select the object you want to perform the action on, from the Select VM to view Actions Results widget. Click the Results drop-down in the VM Scripted Action Results widget, find the task name or task ID in the list and verify that the status is completed.
