iSCSI connections from initiator repeatedly closed by array due to improper target IP configuration

This indicates the host initiator is configured to use an array data IP as a discovery IP address. The Nimble array will have one or more dedicated Discovery IP addresses. For proper functionality, the initiators must be configured to use this dedicated Discovery IP rather than the Data IP addresses.

Prior to allowing the update to proceed, the array checks to ensure physical network interface pairs on both controllers are connected to the same IP subnet so that connectivity to the array does not degrade when the array fails over to the standby controller.

  1. Login to InfoSight and click on the 'Administration' menu.

  2. Select 'Asset Addresses' to view the current shipping address. Use the drop-down menu under 'Delivery Address' to set an existing address, and/or the green 'Confirm' button at the right side of the view to confirm an address.

  3. To add a new address or edit an existing entry, select 'Address Book' above 'Asset Addresses', followed by 'New' to create a new entry or click on an existing entry to enable the 'Edit' button.

A HPE Nimble Storage Technical Support Engineer will also reach out to you regarding replacing this drive. When searching for the failed drive, look for the drive that has a RED or no LED illuminated. Count from the left starting at 1 until you get to the drive. HDDs are designated with a HDD logo right above the size of drive.

HPE Nimble Storage has detected snapshots with duplicate serial numbers. This matter is being tracked and worked under bug 58736. Creating and deleting an extremely large number of snapshots may lead to the same SCSI serial number for two snapshots. This can lead to the iSCSI initiator using an incorrect snapshot.

Workaround: Please upgrade your array after deleting all snapshots with a duplicate serial number. Simply deleting will not resolve this issue. If you do not upgrade, snapshots with a duplicate serial number may re-occur.

Fix: Bug 58736 is fixed in Nimble OS 2.1.7.0 and 2.2.3.0 or later. Please be aware that you cannot upgrade to either of those version if snapshots with duplicate serial numbers are still present on your array.

Temperature sensor detects critically high temperatures. This is indicative of a cooling or air flow problem which could lead the array shutting down.

If the alert corresponds to a controller replacement, reboot or failover of the array the temperature decrease once the array returns to active standby. If the alert was caused by a momentary elevation in the environment there is no need for further action, and you do not need to respond to this notification. If the array is running Nimble OS 2.2.9 or 2.3.6, the array software should be updated to obtain an updated thermal policy for your array. If the temperature remains elevated then the environment where the array is installed should be reviewed.
