How the Management Pack Works
The Management Pack for VMware Tanzu Application Service accesses three distinct APIs—Blue Medora Nozzle for VMware Tanzu Application Service, Cloud Controller API, and BOSH Director API—to return comprehensive health, availability, and performance metrics across your entire VMware Tanzu Application Service Foundation.
Blue Medora Nozzle for VMware Tanzu Application Service
The Blue Medora Nozzle for VMware Tanzu Application Service connects to the Cloud Foundry Loggregator Firehose to collect VMware Tanzu Application Service infrastructure resources and metrics via a REST API.
Before you can use Blue Medora's nozzle, you must complete Setting Up the Blue Medora Nozzle for VMware Tanzu Application Service.
Note:We recommend using the Tile deployment method.
To configure both the nozzle and the management pack, you will need Blue Medora Nozzle for VMware Tanzu Application Service Credentials (UAA Client). See: Obtaining Nozzle, Cloud Controller, and BOSH Director Credentials
Lastly, you will need the Blue Medora Nozzle for VMware Tanzu Application Service API Host for your nozzle deployment to use in the management pack configuration. See: Obtaining Nozzle, Cloud Controller, and BOSH Director Hostnames/IP Addresses
Cloud Controller API
The Cloud Controller API provides Organization, Space, Service, Application, and Application Instance resources and metrics.
To configure the management pack, you will need:
Your Cloud Controller API Credentials (UAA User). See: Obtaining Nozzle, Cloud Controller, and BOSH Director Credentials
Your Cloud Controller API Host. See: Obtaining Nozzle, Cloud Controller, and BOSH Director Hostnames/IP Addresses
BOSH Director API
The BOSH Director API provides Availability Zone resources and metrics as well as BOSH metrics, which is combined with data pulled from the Blue Medora Nozzle for VMware Tanzu Application Service, completing the full picture of the infrastructure side of your VMware Tanzu Application Service Foundation.
To configure the management pack, you will need:
Your BOSH Director Credentials (BOSH Director UAA Client). See: Obtaining Nozzle, Cloud Controller, and BOSH Director Credentials
Your BOSH Director API Host. See: Obtaining Nozzle, Cloud Controller, and BOSH Director Hostnames/IP Addresses
How to Get Started

Review the System Requirements and ensure you have performed the necessary prerequisite tasks to deploy the nozzle and obtain your API credentials and endpoint hostnames/IPs. Direct links to each sub-topic on how to obtain the credentials and hostnames are indicated for each individual API above. The top-level topics to obtain all your necessary API credentials and hostnames are as follows:
Install and Configure the management pack. If you encounter any Test Connection errors when configuring, see: Troubleshooting the Management Pack.
