Observe the following recommendations and limitations when you use Cloud Proxy.

Cloud Proxy Recommendation

Scenario: centralized log monitoring with edge data collection.

Description: Logs are collected at edge locations and sent to a centralized VMware Aria Operations for Logs for analysis and troubleshooting.

Recommendation: If edge-based troubleshooting is not required, you can choose between Cloud Proxy or VMware Aria Operations for Logs for log management and forwarding to the centralized data center. However, it is essential to consider the prerequisites and limitations of cloud proxy usage.

Cloud Proxy Limitations

Improve your experience with Cloud Proxy by knowing the following limitations:
  • Log or Metric Collection: Cloud Proxy can only collect logs or metrics, not both simultaneously. Separate Cloud Proxy instances are necessary for each type.
  • Manual ESXi Host Configuration: Cloud Proxy does not automatically discover ESXi hosts. Manual configuration is required.
  • Data Persistence: Cloud Proxy does not support data persistence for logs.
  • Raw Syslog Forwarding: Cloud Proxy does not support raw Syslog forwarding.
  • HA Collector Groups: Cloud Proxy does not support HA collector groups for log forwarding.
