You can bulk add the discovered devices as data sources in VMware Aria Operations for Networks.

Procedure

  1. From the left navigation pane, go to Settings > Accounts and Data Sources.
  2. Click the Device Auto Discovery tab and select Discovered Devices.
    The discovered devices are divided in the following tabs:
    • All: Displays all the discovered devices.
    • Ready to Add: Displays all the devices that are ready to be added as data sources.
    • Needs Attention: Displays the devices that have one or more problems and need remediation.
    • Excluded: Displays the devices which cannot be added as data sources. You can also select devices from any of the other tabs and add it to the excluded list. These devices can later be removed from the excluded list and added as data sources.
  3. Select one or more devices from the All or Ready to Add tab and click the Add As Source button.
  4. To bulk edit information of the devices before adding them as data sources, select the devices, click the three dots icon next to Add As Source and click Bulk Edit and Add.
    You can edit the following fields.
    • Collector VM: From the drop-down, select:
      • No Change to retain your existing collector.
      • Or, Override existing values to enter a new values.
    • Autoinferred Device Name: From the drop-down, select:
      • No Change to retain your existing device name.
      • Append to existing values to enter new values at the end of the existing values.
      • Or, Prepend to existing values to enter new values at the beginning of the existing values.
    • Access Credentials: From the drop-down, select:
      • No Change to retain your existing credentials.
      • Or, Override existing values to provide a new credentials that works across all the data sources.
    • Config Polling Intervals: From the drop-down, select:
      • No Change to retain the previously configured polling interval.
      • Or, Override existing values to provide a new polling interval for the VMware Aria Operations for Networks platform to collect the configuration data from the selected data sources
    • SNMP: From the drop-down, select:
      • No Change to retain your existing SNMP credentials.
      • Or, Override existing values to enter a new values.
    • Notes: From the drop-down, select:
      • No Change to retain your existing notes.
      • Or, Override existing values to enter a new note.

    Click Next.

    In the next screen, review the devices and add them as data sources.

Results

Bulk operations may take some time to complete. If the bulk add operation is successful, you will see a notification for the same.

If the operation fails for one or more data sources, the details of the devices and the details due to which the operation failed are displayed.

You can fix the errors and retry the operation on the failed devices.
