As a VMware Aria Operations administrator, you can migrate your content from VMware Aria Operations to VMware Aria Operations SaaS. Migrating to VMware Aria Operations SaaS allows you to access content anywhere and anytime, and provides automatic upgrades to ensure you have the latest version and a secure one-way connection using Cloud Proxies.
While migrating from VMware Aria Operations on-prem to SaaS, you can migrate your custom as well as historic data.
- Log in to the VMware Aria Operations instance from which you want to export the content.
- From the left menu, click Administration, and then in the right pane, click Content Management.
- In the Export tab, select the content and configurations that you want to export, and click Export.

The system compresses the content into one ZIP file.
Note: For configurations such as Integration Accounts, Http Proxies, Outbound Settings, Users, and Authentication Sources that have sensitive information, you must set up a new password to export data. The password should be at least 14 characters long.Note: VMware Aria Operations SaaS does not support the export/import of Authentication Sources, Users, and Http Proxies. - Click the Download ZIP file link to download the content bundle.
You can use the downloaded content to restore your content or export it to a different setup.
- Log in to VMware Aria Operations SaaS.
- From the left menu, click Administration, and then in the right pane, click Content Management.
- Click the Import tab and then, click Browse to select the downloaded ZIP file with the exported content.
- If there is a conflict while importing the content, you can select to either Overwrite existing content or Skip item(s).
- For content types with sensitive information, enter the password that you had set while exporting the content.
- Click Import.
After the import is completed, the content is available in VMware Aria Operations SaaS. The import report with the timestamp is displayed after the import operation is complete. You can view this information under the Results section in the Import page.
- If you want to collect the data for up to 30 days, then request to run SaaS along with On-prem free of charge for 30 days.
- If you want to retain historical data for a longer duration (more than 30 days), then contact your TAM or the Support team.
