GSLB Subdomain

This section discusses GSLB subdomain as a prerequisite to configuring GSLB.

Before configuring the GSLB deployment, identify the GSLB subdomain. The GSLB subdomain is a part of your domain for which Avi Load Balancer will be authoritative. Each of the GSLB subdomains is a subdomain for which a delegation is configured on the corporate DNS server so that Avi Load Balancer DNS servers are authoritative for that particular subdomain and can use one of the various GSLB algorithms to decide which IP address to give out at any given time. GSLB subdomain is used for GSLB Service FQDN match and placement.

For example, if acme.com is our domain, we can have various subdomains such as avi.acme.com, gslb.acme.com, and so on. Please note that delegating a subdomain to Avi Load Balancer DNS servers is one of the ways to send traffic to Avi Load Balancer GSLB.
