VMware Blockchain lets you archive the complete transaction history of the Ledger for an extended period in single or multiple ObjectStores.
Business or regulatory requirements drive data archiving for an extended period. For example, the financial, government, or health care sectors are some of the sectors where data archiving is required.
In the financial sector, applications for clearing and settlement running in a blockchain must keep data for several years. It takes enormous storage resources to save the history of high-volume clearing and settlement transactions.
VMware Blockchain provides data archiving of the Ledger history in cost-efficient storage to address this data retention policy. The complete history of the blockchain is preserved in one or more independent ObjectStores.
ObjectStore is a data storage solution used for handling a wealth of unstructured data. The objects are stored in a structurally flat data environment for accessible location and retrieval across distributed regions. Each object is a simple, self-contained repository that includes the data, metadata of an object, and a unique identifying ID number. The data on the ObjectStore is accessible using HTTP-based RESTful API.
VMware Blockchain users can use their choice of S3-compatible ObjectStore. After the ObjectStore is set up, the operator must supply the ObjectStore’s endpoint URL during the VMware Blockchain deployment process.
All the ObjectStore infrastructure's operational aspects, such as monitoring and maintenance, are the user's responsibility.
