After deploying the VMware Blockchain nodes, you might want to scale up the deployed four-node configuration to 7 nodes or scale down the node configuration.

Note:

If both the Replica and Client nodes were pruned, you cannot implement the scale-up or scale-down process. The scale-up or scale-down process applies if only the Replica or Clientnodes were not previously pruned.

There are several reasons to scale up the deployed VMware Blockchain nodes. The most common scenarios are as follows:

  • Increase the fault tolerance of the platform.

  • Improve the disaster recovery process.

  • The system has run out of space due to new members in the network requiring VMware Blockchain nodes.

  • To resolve performance problems.

There are several reasons to scale down the deployed VMware Blockchain nodes. The most common scenarios are as follows:

  • The system has too many nodes, which are taking up storage space.

  • The nodes are no longer needed.
