Before you deploy VMware Blockchain nodes, your environment must meet specific system requirements.
You must have vSphere 7.0 installed and configured in your on-premises environment.
There are two core components of vSphere, ESXi and vCenter Server. With ESXi, you have a virtualization platform to create and run virtual machines and virtual appliances. vCenter Server is the service you can use to manage multiple hosts connected in a network and pool host resources.
Depending on your vSphere version, make sure that you meet the minimum vSphere 7.0 system configurations.
Node Resource Recommendations for vSphere
For a small deployment with a minimum of four Replica nodes, each Replica node requires:
VMware Blockchain 1.8 |
---|
6 vCPUs |
32 GB memory |
64 GB storage |
For a small deployment with a minimum of one Client node, each Client node requires:
VMware Blockchain 1.8 |
---|
6 vCPUs |
32 GB memory
Note:
The 32 GB memory allocation might vary depending on the amount of data sent through the Client node. Contact the VMware support team for specific deployment sizing requirements. |
64 GB storage |

Hardware Recommendations for vSphere
To enable securing the symmetric key, which encrypts other sensitive data on your on-premises vSphere hardware, the supported USB hardware security module (HSM) device is the YubiHSM2 FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) 140-2 Level 3 model.
