This section describes settings that enable you to configure and maintain your Carbon Black App Control Server installation. Access to the System Configuration page is available only to login accounts in the Administrators group or in customized groups with View System Configuration and Manage System Configuration check boxes selected.

To view the System Configuration page, click the Configuration (gear) icon on the console menu and click System Configuration By default, the Carbon Black App Control Console displays the General tab of the System Configuration page. Select another tab to view or change something that is not on this tab..

The System Configuration pages present both read-only status information and configurable settings for use by Carbon Black App Control Administrators. The configuration information is organized on a series of tabbed views, some of which have several panels:

  • General tab – Server status information, options for integrating the Carbon Black App Control Server with Active Directory or LDAP, Carbon Black App Control Agent Management options, and user password configuration requirements.
  • Events tab – Configuration settings for managing the Carbon Black App Control Server’s own database and options for setting up supplemental external event logging, including Syslog.
  • Security tab – Current status of secure communications between Carbon Black App Control Agents and the Carbon Black App Control Server, and provides options for enabling certificate verification for these communications if not already enabled.
  • Advanced Options tab – Options for database backup, automatic agent upgrades, Carbon Black App Control Console login timeout, files for Carbon Black App Control to ignore, API access, deleting offline computers, allowing use of expired publisher certificates, and letting Carbon Black File Reputation update detection indicators, system health indicators, and definitions of updaters.
  • Mail tab – Configuration settings for sending email when an Carbon Black App Control alert is triggered or an approval request is resolved.
  • Licensing tab – Shows the number and type of Carbon Black App Control Agent licensed for your server, and allows you to update your license key; also allows you to enable and configure Carbon Black File Reputation.
  • External Analytics tab – Configuration settings for External Analytics, which enables the Carbon Black App Control Server to export data it collects from endpoints to external analysis tools. See Exporting Data for External Analysis for information about the settings on this tab.
  • Connectors tab – Configuration settings for integrating the Carbon Black App Control Server with one or more network security devices or services. App Control Connector provides additional information about some connections enabled by the settings on this tab.
  • Unified Management tab – Configuration settings required to enable Unified Management. See Creating Unified Management Console Accounts for information about the settings on this tab.
  • SAML Login tab – Configuration settings required to integrate App Control with an identity provider that uses Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML). See Configuring SAML Logins for more information regarding the settings on this tab.
