System health indicators are provided by Carbon Black File Reputation. The SRS must be enabled for the initial download of Health Indicators from the cloud, and it is also used to update existing indicators when necessary and to add new indicators as they are developed.

In addition to enabling Carbon Black File Reputation on your Carbon Black App Control Server, you must enable the Health Indicators Updates setting on the Advanced Options tab of the System Configuration page. This switch enables both initial downloading and later updates of health indicators.

Procedure

  1. On the console menu, click the configuration (gear) icon, click System Configuration, and then click the Licensing tab.
  2. On the Licensing tab, check to see whether the Carbon Black File Reputation Activation panel shows that the SRS is activated. If it is not activated, follow the activation instructions in Activating Carbon Black File Reputation.
  3. When Carbon Black File Reputation is activated, click the Advanced Options tab on the System Configuration page and click the Edit button at the bottom of the page.
  4. In the Software Rule Options panel, check the box for Health Indicators. When the page is saved, this automatically downloads Health Indicators from Carbon Black File Reputation and also updates them as necessary.
  5. Click the Update button at the bottom of the page. Download of the Health Indicators is scheduled and begins shortly.

Results

After System Health Indicators have been activated, they begin to download to your server from Carbon Black File Reputation. Depending upon your connection speed and other server activities, this might take one or two hours. See Viewing the System Health Page for a description of what you will see after this feature is activated.
