This section describes how to migrate an RPM-based Carbon Black EDR instance to a containerized server.

The migration process is relatively efficient because most existing data files are reused by using symlinks. Other specific configurations are copied over to the specific subdirectory.

For clusters, you must migrate minions first and then migrate the cluster primary node.

Important:

Migration from an RPM-based installation of Carbon Black EDR Server to containerized Carbon Black EDR Server involves a non-trivial amount of risk. We cannot promise support for all possible product configurations and environment variables.

Follow the migration instructions carefully. If possible, test the migration process in a test environment before migrating your production instances. If you do not have a test environment, reduce the risk by migrating your least critical instances first.

We recommend that you backup your instances prior to migration.
