If you have Carbon Black EDR Unified View 6.1.3 or later currently installed, you can upgrade to a newer version without uninstalling the previous version.

This release of Carbon Black EDR Unified View does not support in-place upgrades from the earliestCarbon Black EDR Unified View versions, named CB-Fed v.1.x.x, but does allow you to upgrade fromCarbon Black EDR Unified View 6.1.3 or later versions.

Important:
  • If you are running Carbon Black EDR Unified View 5.x, please note that direct upgrades from Carbon Black EDR Unified View 5.x to Carbon Black EDR Unified View 7.x are not supported. Customers on Carbon Black EDR Unified View 5.x who want to upgrade to Carbon Black EDR Unified View 7.x must first complete an intermediate upgrade to Carbon Black EDR Unified View 6.x before upgrading to Carbon Black EDR Unified View 7.x. To ensure that there is no data loss, we recommend that you remain on Carbon Black EDR Unified View 6.x for at least 30 days before proceeding with an upgrade to Carbon Black EDR Unified View 7.x.

  • There is a known issue in Carbon Black EDR Unified View 7.4.0 that prevents a successful upgrade from Carbon Black EDR Unified View 6.x versions. Accordingly, do not attempt to upgrade from Carbon Black EDR Unified View 6.x to Carbon Black EDR Unified View 7.4.0. This issue was resolved in Carbon Black EDR Unified View 7.4.1. See this Knowledge Base article for more information.

Procedure

  1. On the server, stop the Carbon Black EDR Unified View services:
    sudo service cb-unifiedview stop
  2. (Optional) Clean the yum cache of metadata and packages:
    yum clean all
  3. Update the Carbon Black EDR Unified View services:
    sudo yum upgrade cb-unifiedview
  4. Restart the Carbon Black EDR Unified View services:
    sudo service cb-unifiedview start
