To prepare your VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC environment to support the Cloud Assembly data collector, you must configure a VMC adapter in your VMware Cloud on AWS subscription service.

You establish authentication credentials between your Cloud Assembly and VMware Cloud on AWS services by way of the configured VMware Cloud on AWS adapter.

After you configure the VMware Cloud on AWS adapter in your VMware Cloud on AWS subscription service, you can begin the process of creating a VMware Cloud on AWS cloud account in Cloud Assembly.

Prepare your VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC environment to support the Cloud Assembly cloud proxy by configuring the VMware Cloud on AWS adapter. The VMware Cloud on AWS adapter facilitates authentication credentials between the Cloud Assembly service and the VMware Cloud on AWS service.

The following diagrams shows the relationship between the VMware Cloud on AWS adapter and the cloud proxy virtual appliance that is required when you create and use VMware Cloud on AWS cloud accounts in Cloud Assembly. The first is the VMware Cloud on AWS adapter resident in the Cloud Assembly service and the other is the cloud proxy, which is a remote virtual appliance deployed by the OVA and resident on the target vCenter. The adapter allows you to deploy the required cloud proxy OVA to each of your VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC data centers.

The VMware Cloud on AWS adapter supports integrated authentication between the Cloud Assembly subscription and VMware Cloud on AWS subscription.
