Mappings and profiles help to control how and where compute resources are placed during blueprint deployment.

Mappings and profiles are specific to a cloud account/region pairing.

  • Network and Storage profiles

Blueprint constraint tag values are matched to network profile and storage profile capability tags values to select a profile. Profile settings are further selected for inclusion during blueprint deployment by tag matching between the blueprint and the profiles.

For example, the mapped network profile might contain settings that determine certain network and security rules for the deployed machine and related compute resources. The mapped storage profile might define the amount and type of storage resources to be used for compute resources.

After the capability and constraint values are matched, next-level tag values are matched to provide a further level of control.

  • Image and Flavor mappings

Image and flavor mappings contain settings for the deployment's OS configuration and resource sizings.

For cloud-specific blueprints, the original mappings and profiles matchings are tied to the cloud/account region pairing that is specified in the blueprint.
