Using Amazon Web Services (AWS), a Cloud Assembly virtual machine, and an ABX action subscription you can set the IP address of the virtual machine.

Prerequisites

  • A virtual machine deployed in Cloud Assembly

  • A configured AWS account

  • Cloud administrator role

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Extensibility > Actions > New Action.
  2. Create an action with the following parameters:

    Action Template

    Assign IP to VM

    Inputs

    Replace inputs with your own environment data.

  3. Save and test your action.
  4. Create a subscription named Set IP with the following parameters:

    Event Topic

    Applicable Event Topic suited for tagging a concrete virtual machine.

    Blocking/Non-blocking

    Blocking for provision.pre phase

    Runnable Item

    Select ABX type and your IPAM action.

    Filter on action

    Apply a filter to only trigger when a specific user deploys a virtual machine. For example, using your user name triggers the subscription only when you deploy a virtual machine.

  5. Click Save to save your subscription.
