This example procedure demonstrates creating a basic Microsoft Azure cloud account.
The example in this section expands on the basic WordPress end-to-end use case to use a vCenter cloud account in the needed infrastructure for a blueprint and deployment.
Azure cloud accounts do not require a cloud proxy.
Verify that you have the required user role. See What are the Cloud Assembly user roles.
Configure a Microsoft Azure instance and obtain a valid Microsoft Azure subscription from which you can use the subscription ID. See http://www.vaficionado.com/2016/11/using-new-microsoft-azure-endpoint-vrealize-automation-7-2/ for more information about configuring Azure and obtaining a subscription ID. This page describes configuring Azure for vRealize Automation, but Parts 1 and 2 also apply to configuring Azure for a Cloud Assembly cloud account.
Create an Active Directory application as described in https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/resource-group-create-service-principal-portal.
Satisfy the credentials listed in Credentials for Cloud Assembly cloud accounts.
Make note of the following Azure related information, as you will need it during cloud account and blueprint configuration.
storage account name
resource group name
virtual network name
client application ID
client application secret key
virtual machine image URN
- Click Add Cloud Account, select Microsoft Azure, and then enter values.
Sample Value and Instruction
Enter the Microsoft Azure subscription ID that you obtained when configuring your Azure instance. This value is specific to your Azure instance.
The subscription ID identifies the specific Azure subscription. It defines, the storage, virtual machines and other Azure resources to which you have access.
Enter the Azure tenant ID that you obtained when configuring your Azure instance. This value is specific to your Azure instance.
The tenant ID is used by Microsoft Active Directory to designate an endpoint for the applications you create in your individual Azure account.
Client application ID
Enter the Azure client application ID that you obtained when configuring your Azure instance. This value is specific to your Azure instance.
The client application ID is a unique identifier used to discover the resources for an application in your individual Azure account.
Client application secret key
Enter the Azure client application secret key that you obtained when configuring your Azure instance. This value is specific to your Azure instance.
The client application secret key is paired with an application's client application ID to ensure maximum security for the Azure account.
Enter OurCo-azure or another appropriate name for the cloud account name.
The user specified name for the cloud account.
Enter Sample deployment for WordPress with Azure as a cloud account description.
The user entered description for the cloud account.
Leave this empty for now. Use tags according to your organization's tag strategy.
- Click Add to add the new Microsoft Azure cloud account.
