The supplied cloud proxy is an OVA that contains the credentials and protocols that connect a proxy appliance on a host vCenter server to a vCenter-based cloud account.

vCenter-based cloud accounts require that a cloud proxy is deployed to a source vCenter for data collection and communication between the cloud account and an on-premises endpoint.

vCenter-based cloud account types include vCenter Server, NSX-V, NSX-T, and VMware Cloud on AWS. Some cloud account types, such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, do not require a cloud proxy.

You can define and deploy a cloud proxy before you create a cloud account or during the process of creating a cloud account.
