Deploy one or multiple VMware Cloud Director Availability On-Premises Appliance to replicate to and from the cloud site. The architecture of the VMware Cloud Director Availability solution shows replication operations between on-premises sites and the cloud site.

In a vCenter Server environment, each organization administrator can protect or migrate on-premises workloads to a cloud site. Then fail over the recovered virtual machines from the cloud site back to on-premises sites.

VMware Cloud Director Availability always initiates the network connection from the on-premises site to the cloud site.

On-premises Appliance Deployment

In on-premises sites, deploy and configure one or more VMware Cloud Director Availability On-Premises Appliance as a vSphere administrator. Each appliance contains a Replicator Service and a Tunnel Service.

In the diagram, the cells without color show the existing components in the on-premises environment. The colored cells show the VMware Cloud Director Availability services that deploy during the VMware Cloud Director Availability On-Premises Appliance installation and configuration procedures.
