As a provider, you control the peers each tenant sees by hiding certain cloud sites for specific organizations.
Tenants using a shared
VMware Cloud Director instance usually have access only to some of the cloud sites paired to that instance. They might not be able to log in to those sites, but they see them. As a
provider, you can hide selected cloud peers for organizations that must not see or interact with. Once hidden, that cloud site is filtered from all views. For example, the
Dashboard, the
Peer Sites page, and others.
By default, all paired sites are visible for all organizations.
The on-premises sites are paired to certain organizations and are only visible to the respective tenants, therefore need no filtering.
Prerequisites
Verify that
VMware Cloud Director Availability 4.7 is successfully deployed in the cloud site from where you apply the filter.
Procedure
- Log in to the management interface of the Cloud Director Replication Management Appliance.
- In a Web browser, go to https://Appliance-IP-Address/ui/admin.
- Select Appliance login or SSO login and enter the root or the single sign-on user credentials.
- Click Login.
- In the left pane under Configuration, click Peer Sites.
- Select a remote cloud site to filter, then in the right pane next to Organization Access, click Edit.
- In the Organization Access window, select the organizations that can access that site, then click Apply.
- (Optional) To pre-select the organizations that are associated with the remote site in VMware Cloud Director according to the multisite configuration, click Use associated organization from vCloud.
- Select the organizations that should have access to the remote cloud site.
Only the selected organizations can monitor and manage replications on the filtered cloud site.
Results
The tenants continue to operate only with the paired cloud sites to which you provided them with access.
