The vCloud Director Multisite feature enables a service provider or a tenant of multiple, geographically distributed vCloud Director installations (server groups) to manage and monitor those installations and their organizations as single entities.

Starting with vCloud Director Object Storage Extension 1.0.1, you can deploy and configure vCloud Director Object Storage Extension within a multisite vCloud Director architecture. By configuring vCloud Director Object Storage Extension within a multisite architecture, you enable tenant users to preview and download objects in remote sites.

With the multisite feature, you achieve high availability and provide a single point of data access for organization users.

When configuring the multisite feature, you create a cluster of multiple vCloud Director Object Storage Extension instances to create an availability zone. In vCloud Director Object Storage Extension 1.0.1, you can group vCloud Director Object Storage Extension instances together only into a single region. A region is a collection of compute resources in a geographic area. Regions are isolated and independent of one another. vCloud Director Object Storage Extension 1.0.1 does not support multi-region architectures.
