Automatic activation of VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension

With automatic activation, tenant organizations can automatically complete the activation of VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension when the tenant users access the portal for the first time.

Turn on automatic activation for a tenant organization

For multi-region organizations, you turn on automatic activation for each region separately.

Procedure

1. Log in to the VMware Cloud Director cloud provider admin portal.
2. From the More drop-down menu, select Object Storage.
3. On the Settings tab, click Tenant Activation.
4. Select the region for which you want to turn on automatic activation of VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension.
5. In the region card, on the right side of the region name, activate the toggle to change it to Auto.
   1. Select a Storage Policy.
   2. To allow tenant users the option to change the storage policy, select the Allow to change storage policy check box.
6. Click Confirm.

Turn off automatic activation for a tenant organization

Change the type of activation for a tenant organizations in a region back to manual activation.

Procedure

1. Log in to the VMware Cloud Director cloud provider admin portal.
2. From the More drop-down menu, select Object Storage.
3. On the Settings tab, click Tenant Activation.
4. Select the region for which you want to turn on automatic activation of VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension.
5. In the region card, on the right side of the region name, deactivate the toggle to change it to Manual.
6. Click Confirm.
