When you deploy multi-region object storage clusters and their corresponding VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension servers, you can join the VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension servers from each region, to build a cluster.

If you group multiple regions, you can remove a region from the group.

Add a Region

You can group a single VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension server within a region with the server of another region, or you can add it to an existing group. You cannot merge two groups of VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension extension servers.

When you group multi-region VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension servers, you can activate a tenant organization for multiple regions. The VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension server in the remote region must have an organization, which is associated with the same tenant.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the VMware Cloud Director tenant portal.
  2. From the More drop-down menu, select Object Storage.
  3. On the Platform tab, click Add Region.
  4. Enter the public endpoint of the VMware Cloud Director Object Storage Extension server from the region that you want to add.
  5. Click Validate.
The validation process checks if the server is qualified, according to different parameters, for example, if TLS is enabled for the server endpoint or if the object storage cluster is configured as a multi-region cluster.
  6. Click Save.

Remove a Region

After you remove a non-local region, the tenant organization, which is activated on this region is automatically deactivated.

  2. From the More drop-down menu, select Object Storage.
  3. On the Platform tab, select the region that you want to remove.
