Backup and restore for MongoDB Enterprise, MongoDB Community, VMware RabbitMQ, and Confluent Platform solutions is available, but not through the the VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions UI. For more information, see the official documentation of the relevant solution.

Tenant user roles and rights

To be able to complete some operations in VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions, you must have all the necessary privileges.

Tenant administrators can view all the data within their organization. They might have the rights to provision Kubernetes clusters and to create data solution instances.

Tenant VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions operators install the data solutions extension operator to Tanzu Kubernetes Grid multi-cloud. In addition to required rights for this user role, the tenant operators must also have edit right on specific Tanzu Kubernetes Grid multi-cloud clusters. Specifically, the user's role must include the following rights:
  • Edit VMWARE:CAPVCDCLUSTER
  • ReadWrite right in the access control list of the cluster Runtime Defined Entity (RDE) instance.
Tenant VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions users perform day-to-day operations on the data solution instance management, for example, creation, update, and deletion.
Important: If your cloud provider upgraded VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions to version 1.5 you must manually update the Tenant VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions operator and Tenant VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions user roles with the VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions 1.5 rights.
