You can take a snapshot of a virtual machine. After you take the snapshot, you can revert the virtual machine to the most recent snapshot, or remove the snapshot.

A snapshot of a virtual machine represents its state at the time that snapshot was taken. Creating a snapshot replaces any existing snapshot and multilevel snapshots are not supported. Snapshots do not capture NIC configurations.

Verify that the virtual machine is not connected to an independent disk.

  1. Click the Manage & Monitor tab and click Organization VDCs in the left pane.
  2. Right-click the organization name and select Open.
  3. Select My Cloud > VMs.
  4. Right-click the vApp and select Create Snapshot.
  5. Click OK.

A snapshot of the virtual machine's state is saved, which doubles the virtual machine's storage consumption on the organization virtual data center.
