You might have situations in which you want to power off the system and power it back on. In such situations, you must use a specific sequence to power off the virtual machines, ESXi hosts, and switches and subsequently power them on.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that you have direct console access to the switches and hosts in the system.

  • Ensure that you have saved the account passwords in a location other than the racks in the Cloud Foundation system you are shutting down. See Look Up Account Credentials.

  • Ensure that you have saved the backup files in a location other than the racks in the Cloud Foundation system you are shutting down. See Back Up ESXi and Physical Switch Configurations.

  • Note down the hosts that are part of the management domain. To see the hosts in the management domain, navigate to the domain details page in SDDC Manager.

  • Note down the hosts in each workload domain.
