Support Matrix of VMware Cloud Foundation on Dell EMC VxRail

Resolved Issues

  • Validation is not happening in sequential order in the Cloud Foundation builder VM

This issue is observed during the bring-up configuration file validation process where the validation tasks are not being executed in sequential manner, but being executed in some random order.

  • The vSAN Gateway is not being set on the static routes in a stretched cluster

  • In the vSAN stretch cluster workflow of VMware Cloud Foundation on Dell EMC VxRail, the static routes are configured for the ESXi hosts in Region A (AZ1 or AZ2) to reach the witness host/appliance in Region B. The issue is that, the management gateway is used in configuring the static routes. This results in unhealthy state of vSAN.

  • The new hosts are not associated automatically with vRealize Log Insight in the add-host workflow

If vRealize Log Insight has been enabled for the domains and the add host workflow is performed, then the new host does not get associated with the vRealize Log Insight instance for that domain.

  • Unable to cancel the bring-up configuration file validation tasks for VCF on VxRail

This issue is observed during the bring-up configuration file validation process when there is an error and the user tries to cancel the validation tasks. The validation tasks continue to run even after triggering the cancel operation.

Known Issues

The known issues and limitations for are as follows:

  • Upgrade bundles cannot be applied even after all of them have been downloaded

    Symptoms of this issue:

    • All upgrade bundles have been downloaded from the online depot but show up with the status of Future on the LCM Upgrade GUI.
    • Trying to upload the offline bundles produces the error Invalid Software Compatibility Metadata Set in /var/log/vmware/vcf/lcm/lcm.log

    Workaround: See KB 74727.

  • The VxRail upgrade bundles have to be downloaded again

In an environment running VCF 3.7.0 on VxRail 4.7.110, after downloading the upgrade bundles for VCF 3.7.1 and VxRail 4.7.111, if you apply the VCF 3.7.1 patch, then you will be forced to download the VxRail 4.7.111 bundle again.

    Workaround:

    1. Download and apply the VCF 3.7.1 patch.
    2. Download and apply the VxRail 4.7.111 patch.

  • Workload domain vcenter upgrade is failing

The vCenter upgrade is failing for the workload domain due to the missing vc rsa-key in SDDC Manager inside the known host file("~/.ssh/known_hosts).

    Workaround:

    1. SSH of SDDC Manager using vcf user.
    2. Execute ssh -o HostKeyAlgorithms=ssh-rsa root@ <VC_IP>.

  • NSX-T is not supported for the VMware Cloud Foundation 3.7 deployments on VxRail

Currently, only NSX-V 6.4.4 is supported for VMware Cloud Foundation 3.7 deployed on Dell EMC VxRail.

    Workaround: None

  • The add secondary cluster operation on the management domain fails.

After deploying the VMware Cloud Foundation on Dell EMC VxRail management domain, when you try to add the secondary cluster to it, the task fails.

    Workaround: None
