To prevent data loss or corruption due to a hard stop of the environment, you can act to ensure graceful shutdown of all components before a planned maintenance or other known outages. After the outage is complete and the infrastructure components are available, you can power the environment back on with all VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware Aria Operations services functioning properly.
Shut Down the Cloud Proxy Appliance for Cloud-Based Intelligent Operations for VMware Cloud Foundation
To gracefully shut down the Cloud Proxy appliance, use the vCenter Server user interface.
To shut down the entire management domain, you start with the Cloud Proxy appliance. For the full-stack shutdown order of VMware Cloud Foundation and the management domain, see Shutting Down VMware Cloud Foundation.
Procedure
- Log in to the management domain vCenter Server at https://<management_vcenter_server_fqdn>/ui by using an account with Administrator privileges.

In the VMs and templates inventory, expand the management domain vCenter Server tree and expand the management domain data center.

Navigate to the Cloud Proxy appliance in the inventory.

Right-click the virtual machine and select

In the confirmation dialog box, click Yes.

Repeat the steps from 3 to 5 for the second Cloud Proxy appliance.
Start the Cloud Proxy Appliance for Cloud-Based Intelligent Operations for VMware Cloud Foundation
To start the Cloud Proxy appliance, use the use the vCenter Server user interface.
To start up the entire management domain, power on the Cloud Proxy appliance last. For the full-stack startup order of VMware Cloud Foundation, see Shutting Down VMware Cloud Foundation.
Procedure
- Log in to the management domain vCenter Server at https://<management_vcenter_server_fqdn>/ui by using an account with Administrator privileges.
In the VMs and templates inventory, expand the management domain vCenter Server tree and expand the management domain data center.
Navigate to the Cloud Proxy appliance in the inventory.
Right-click the virtual machine and click
.Verify the operational state of the Cloud Proxy appliance after the startup.
Repeat the steps from 3 to 5 for the second Cloud Proxy appliance.
Verify connectivity of the Cloud Proxy appliance to VMware Aria Operations after startup by running the command in the console of the respective appliance.
