The HCX Connector appliance supports the use of an FTP server for storing backups and you can configure a schedule for it.

Configure the FTP Server Settings for the HCX Connector for Cross Cloud Mobility for VMware Cloud Foundation

You configure the HCX Connector appliance with a target FTP server using the SFTP protocol.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the HCX Connector at https://<hcx_connector_fqdn>:9443 with a user assigned the Admin role.

  2. Select the Administration tab.

  3. In the left pane, select Troubleshooting > Backup & restore.

  4. Select the FTP server setting tab and click Add.

  5. Under FTP server setting, configure the settings according to your values in the VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook and click Save.

Configure a Backup Schedule for the HCX Connector for Cross Cloud Mobility for VMware Cloud Foundation

After you configure a target FTP server, you configure the schedule for taking backups.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the HCX Connector at https://<hcx_connector_fqdn>:9443 with a user assigned the Admin role.

  2. Select the Administration tab.

  3. In the left pane, select Troubleshooting > Backup & restore.

  4. Select the Scheduling tab and click Add.

  5. Under Backup scheduling, configure the settings according to your values in the VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook and click Save.

Verify Backup Operations for the HCX Connector for Cross Cloud Mobility for VMware Cloud Foundation

Verify that the HCX Connector can perform a successful backup using the target FTP server.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the HCX Connector at https://<hcx_connector_fqdn>:9443 with a user assigned the Admin role.

  2. Select the Administration tab.

  3. In the left pane, select Troubleshooting > Backup & restore.

  4. Select the Backup & restore tab.

  5. Under Backup and restore operations, select the Upload to server check box and click Generate.

  6. Verify you receive a Backup operation succeeded status.
