To complete the upgrade, you mount the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle upgrade ISO file, create a snapshot to save the product current state and initiate the upgrade.

Procedure

  1. Mount the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle upgrade ISO file.

    1. Log in to the management domain vCenter Server at https://<management_vcenter_server_fqdn>/ui by using an account with Administrator privileges.
    2. In the VMs and templates inventory, expand the management domain vCenter Server tree and expand the management domain data center.
    3. Right-click the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle virtual machine and select Edit settings.

    4. In the Edit settings dialog box, from the CD/DVD drive 1 drop-down menu, select Content library ISO file.

    5. In the Choose an ISO image to mount dialog box, select the uploaded ISO file and click OK.

    6. In the Edit settings dialog box, next to the CD/DVD drive 1 drop-down menu, select the Connected check box and click OK.

  2. Upgrade the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle appliance.
    1. Log in to VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle at https://<aria_suite_lifecycle_fqdn> as vcfadmin@local.
    2. On the My services page, click Lifecycle operations.
    3. In the left pane, click Settings and click the System upgrade card.

    4. In the Upgrade VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle section, click Create snapshot.
    5. In the Create snapshot dialog box, configure the settings according to your VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook and click Submit.
    6. In the System upgrade section, follow the path to check the request status.
    7. On the Request details page, verify the snapshot request is Successful.
    8. In the left pane, click Settings and click the System upgrade card.

    9. On the System upgrade page, select the CDROM repository type and click Check for upgrade.

    10. Verify the upgrade is available and click Upgrade.
    11. In the System upgrade dialog box, on the Prerequisite page, select the check box and click Next.

    12. On the PreCheck page, click Run precheck and wait for the completion of the process.
    13. Verify the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle validations have a Passed status, click Upgrade and wait for the completion of the process.
  3. Disconnect the CD ROM from the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle virtual machine.
    1. After the upgrade is complete, in the vSphere Client, right-click the VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle virtual machine and select Edit settings.
    2. In the Edit settings dialog box, next to the CD/DVD drive 1 drop-down menu, deselect the Connected check box, and click OK.
