Configure the Notifications and Alerts for VMware Aria Operations for Networks for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

You configure the desired notifications and alerts for the items relevant to you or your organization.

In VMware Aria Operations for Networks, each item that can generate an alert falls into one of three categories: problems, changes, or others. By default, each of these items is turned on, but does not send notifications.

Procedure

  1. Log in to VMware Aria Operations for Networks at https://<aria_operations_for_networks_fqdn> with a user assigned the Administrator role.
  2. In the left pane, navigate to Settings > Alerts and notification.
  3. On the Problems tab, select the item you want to edit, and click the Edit icon.
  4. On the Alert definition page, in the Alert notification section, configure the notification settings according to your organization's requirements, and click Submit.

Configure SMTP for VMware Aria Operations for Networks for Intelligent Network Visibility for VMware Cloud Foundation

You configure an SMTP server to receive notifications and alerts over e-mail.

Procedure

  1. Log in to VMware Aria Operations for Networks at https://<aria_operations_for_networks_fqdn> with a user assigned the Administrator role.
  2. In the left pane, navigate to Settings > Alerts and notification.
  3. On the Alerts and notification page, click the Mail server tab, and click Configure.

  4. On the Mail server tab, if your mail server require authentication, click Requires Authentication checkbox, and configure the values according to your organization and click Submit.
