After implementing the Private Cloud Automation for VMware Cloud Foundation validated solution, set up planned fail over and disaster recovery for VMware Aria Automation components in the VMware Cloud Foundation system.
By activating NSX Federation and promoting the NSX segment to a cross-instance NSX segment, the solution can support planned failover and disaster recovery between VMware Cloud Foundation instances. VMware Aria Automation is connected to the management networks in both primary and recovery locations through the NSX global Tier-0 and Tier-1 gateways.
You use vSphere Replication and Site Recovery Manager to provide both orchestrated protection and recovery of the VMware Aria Automation and dependencies, such as VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle, Workspace ONE Access, and VMware Aria Operations. As a result, after a planned failover or recovery operation, you can resume using VMware Aria Automation once recovery operations are completed without changes to VMware Aria Automation network configuration. An additional standalone NSX Tier-1 gateway on the cross-instance NSX segment in the recovery region, is deployed in standby to support load balancing across the highly-available VMware Aria Automation cluster after planned failover or disaster recovery.
When implementing this solution to support the fail over of VMware Aria Automation between VMware Cloud Foundation instances configure VMware Aria Automation to use NTP servers that are locally available to provide a higher NTP availability and resilience when a planned fail over or disaster recovery occurs.
