If a site failure occurs in the protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance, initiate a disaster recovery of VMware Aria Operations to keep the monitoring functionality of the SDDC running.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Site Recovery Manager at https://<srm_fqdn/dr> in the recovery VMware Cloud Foundation instance as [email protected].
  2. In the existing site pair, click View details.

  3. Click the Recovery plans tab and click the recovery plan for the VMware Aria Operations analytics cluster according to your VMware Cloud Foundation Planning and Preparation Workbook.

  4. Click the Recovery steps tab and click Run.

    The Recovery wizard appears.

  5. On the Confirmation options page, configure these settings and click Next.

  6. On the Ready to complete page, click Finish.

  7. When prompted, verify that the load balancer virtual server for VMware Aria Operations is available and responds to ping requests, and click Dismiss.

  8. When prompted, verify that the clustered Workspace ONE Access instance is available at https://clustered_workspace_one_access_fqdn/admin, and click Dismiss.

  9. When prompted, power off all VMware Aria Operations cloud proxies.

    1. Log in to the management domain vCenter Server at https://<recovery_vcenter_server_fqdn>/ui in the recovery VMware Cloud Foundation instance as [email protected].
    2. In the VMs and Templates inventory, navigate to the cloud proxy virtual machine folder.

    3. Right-click the cloud proxy virtual machine and select Power > Shut down guest OS.

    4. Repeat these steps for all cloud proxies in the recovery VMware Cloud Foundation instance.

    5. On the recovery plan prompt, click Dismiss.

  10. When prompted, monitor the status of each analytics cluster node.

    1. Log in to the primary VMware Aria Operations node by using the administrator interface at https://<aria_operations_primary_node_fqdn>/admin with a user assigned the Administrator role.

    2. On the System status page, under Nodes in the VMware Aria Operations cluster, locate the node.

    3. Monitor the node until the State and the Status match the expected results in the recovery plan prompt.

    4. On the recovery plan prompt, click Dismiss.

  11. When prompted, power on all available VMware Aria Operations cloud proxies.

    1. Log in to the management domain vCenter Server at https://<recovery_vcenter_server_fqdn>/ui in the recovery VMware Cloud Foundation instance as [email protected].
    2. In the VMs and Templates inventory, navigate to the cloud proxy virtual machine folder.

    3. Right-click each cloud proxy virtual machine and select Power > Power on.

    4. Repeat these steps for all cloud proxies in the recovery VMware Cloud Foundation instance.

    5. On the recovery plan prompt, click Dismiss.
