When the original protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance is back online after a disaster recovery to the recovery VMware Cloud Foundation instance, to avoid conflicts in the management and control planes of NSX, modify the roles of the NSX Global Manager instances.
When the NSX Global Manager for the management cluster in the original protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance is back online, this NSX Global Manager instance is still partially active. To avoid any conflicts you set it to standby.
Procedure
- Log in to NSX Global Manager for the management domain in the recovery VMware Cloud Foundation instance at https://<active_nsx_gm_fqdn>/login.jsp?local=true as admin.
- Log in to NSX Global Manager for the management domain in the recovery VMware Cloud Foundation instance at https://<active_nsx_gm_fqdn>/login.jsp?local=true as admin.
- On the main navigation bar, click System.
- In the left navigation pane, under Configuration, click Location manager.
- Remove the NSX Global Manager from the original protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance.
- Locate the original protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance NSX Global Manager.
- From the Actions menu, select Remove.
- In the Confirm remove dialog box, click Remove.
- Add the NSX Global Manager from the original protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance as standby.
- On the Location manager page, click Add standby, and configure the settings.

FQDN/IP Enter the FQDN for the original protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance NSX Global Manager.
Username Enter the admin user for the original protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance NSX Global Manager.
Password Enter the admin password for the original protected VMware Cloud Foundation instance NSX Global Manager.
SHA-256 thumbprint Enter the NSX Global Manager virtual IP thumbprint value that you obtained earlier. - Click Check compatibility and click Save.
- On the Location manager page, click Add standby, and configure the settings.
