You can set up automatic reporting for Rental and Term contracts by registering your vCloud Usage Meter instances with a contract in VMware Cloud Partner Navigator.

Prerequisites

You have enabled single sign-on (SSO) between VMware Cloud Partner Navigator and VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal. If you don't have SSO enabled, you can only register vCloud Usage Meter instances in VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal. For information, see this topic.

Procedure

  1. On the VMware Cloud Partner Navigator toolbar, click Usage & Commerce > Usage Meter Operations.
    You see a table with all registered vCloud Usage Meter instances.
  2. Click Add Usage Meter.
    A Add Usage Meter window appears.
  3. Enter the details of the vCloud Usage Meter instance.
    1. Enter a label for the instance.
    2. Enter the instance ID.
    3. From the Rental Contract drop-down menu, select a rental contract.
    4. From the Term Contract drop-down menu, select a term contract.
      The Term Contract drop-down menu only appears if you have an active term contract in VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal.
    5. From the Site drop-down menus, select the rental contract and term contract sites.
      The Site menus only appear if there are sites associated with the contract of the instance. To create new sites, you must log in to VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal.
    6. Select a usage billing mode.
      Usage Billing Mode Description
      Production The usage reported by the instance counts towards your monthly billing order for the contract.
      Test The usage reported by the instance does not count towards your monthly billing order for the contract.
    7. Select a connectivity mode.
      Connectivity Mode Description
      Online vCloud Usage Meter automatically uploads the product consumption data to VMware Cloud Partner Navigator.
      Offline vCloud Usage Meter does not upload the product consumption data to VMware Cloud Partner Navigator. At the end of the reporting period you must manually download the product consumption data from vCloud Usage Meter and upload it to VMware Cloud Partner Navigator.
    8. Select the check boxes of the reporting settings you want to enable.
      Report Settings Description
      Report vRealize Operations usage as standalone When selected, VMware Aria Operations product consumption data is reported as standalone.
      Report vRealize Network Insight usage as standalone When selected, VMware Aria Operations for Networks product consumption data is reported as standalone.
  4. To add the instance, click Save.

Results

The vCloud Usage Meter instance appears in the list of instances.

If set to Production, the data collected by the instance is automatically populated in your monthly billing orders (MBOs) and made ready for submission in VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal.
