VMware Cloud Partner Navigator automates the aggregation and reporting of vCloud Usage Meter monthly usage data to VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal. For monitoring purposes, you can review the per-contract, per-site, per-instance, virtual machine history, and cluster history reports of vCloud Usage Meter instances registered on rental contracts.

Migration from vCloud Usage Insight to VMware Cloud Partner Navigator

With the launch of VMware Cloud Partner Navigator, the automatic reporting functionalities of vCloud Usage Insight are now part of VMware Cloud Partner Navigator. The functionalities of vCloud Usage Insight remain unchanged but you now access them in the Usage & Commerce menu of VMware Cloud Partner Navigator.

Depending on whether you had a provider organization in VMware Cloud Provider Hub before the launch of VMware Cloud Partner Navigator, your vCloud Usage Insight migration process involves one of the following scenarios:

If... Then...
You did not have a VMware Cloud Provider Hub provider organization and vCloud Usage Insight was your only active service in VMware Cloud Services

Your VMware Cloud Services organization and its users are migrated to VMware Cloud Partner Navigator.

Users from your organization use their VMware Cloud Services credentials to log in but are now redirected to VMware Cloud Partner Navigator where they can access the functionalities of vCloud Usage Insight.

You did not have a VMware Cloud Provider Hub provider organization and vCloud Usage Insight was not your only active service in VMware Cloud Services

Your VMware Cloud Services organization is not migrated to VMware Cloud Partner Navigator.

A new provider organization is automatically created for you and all users with vCloud Usage Insight service roles from your VMware Cloud Services organization are also added in your VMware Cloud Partner Navigator provider organization.

Users can still access your VMware Cloud Services organization but now have to use VMware Cloud Partner Navigator to access the functionalities of vCloud Usage Insight.

You had a VMware Cloud Provider Hub provider organization and vCloud Usage Insight was also active in your VMware Cloud Services organization

Users from your organization now have to use VMware Cloud Partner Navigator to access the functionalities of vCloud Usage Insight.

All users with vCloud Usage Insight service roles in your VMware Cloud Services organization are added in your VMware Cloud Partner Navigator provider organization.

Users can still access your VMware Cloud Services organization.

Registering vCloud Usage Meter instances in VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal

You register vCloud Usage Meter instances with rental contracts in VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal. After you register your instances, the usage data collected by them is automatically aggregated and populated in the monthly billing orders (MBOs) of your rental contracts in VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal. The usage data is not submitted wthout your approval.

Monthly operational status

On the fourth day of each month, log in to the VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal to verify that VMware Cloud Partner Navigator has aggregated the product consumption data of your vCloud Usage Meter instances and has populated the data in the MBOs of the related rental contracts.

Important: If your MBOs in VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal have partial or missing data, you must submit your product consumption data manually by the fifth day of each month.

Data synchronization between Commerce Portal and VMware Cloud Partner Navigator

To establish the accurate reporting of the monthly product consumption data, all sites, contracts, and provider ID information is synchronized between VMware Cloud Provider Commerce Portal and VMware Cloud Partner Navigator on a daily basis. If there is a change in site, the change is automatically synchronized with VMware Cloud Partner Navigator within the next 24 hours. In rarer occasions, if your contract information or provider ID have changed, these changes are synchronized manually and may take slightly longer.
