What's in the Release Notes

The release notes cover the following topics:

About VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager

VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager is a solution that simplifies the operational experience to deploy, upgrade, configure, and manage VMware Cloud Provider Program products, such as VMware vCloud Usage Meter, VMware Cloud Director, and vRealize Operations Manager Tenant App.
VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager is designed as an application that provides REST APIs to trigger the required tasks.

Caveats and Limitations

VMware Cloud Director certificate configuration

VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager does not support different certificates for HTTPS service and the console proxy service. For both services, VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager uses the certificate you specify as a product certificate in the REST API payload for deployment or certificate update.

To configure the certificate to be valid for both HTTPS service and the console proxy service, you must specify the certificate by using the FQDN of all VMware Cloud Director cells and the public (LB) FQDN.

Known Issues

  • Updating an existing deployment of vRealize Operations Tenant App 2.5 and 2.6 fails

When you use VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager to update an existing vRealize Operations Tenant App 2.5 or 2.6 deployment, the REST API task fails with an ERROR status.

    Workaround:

    1. In vCenter Server, open the vRealize Operations Tenant App VM console.
    2. Manually update the root password for vRealize Operations Tenant App to match the password you configure in the VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager REST API request.
    3. In VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager, run the update REST API request.
  • Deployment and upgrade tasks for vRealize Operations Tenant App can take a long time to complete or fail with an error message

In VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager, when you try to deploy or upgrade vRealize Operations Tenant App, the API task can take a long time to complete or fail with an error message such as:
    ERROR
Vrops TA service or VM tools did not start successfully on VM

    Workaround:

    1. In vCenter Server, open the vRealize Operations Tenant App VM console.
    2. Restart the vRealize Operations Tenant App virtual machine.
    3. In VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager, run the deploy REST API request.
  • After upgrading to vRealize Operations Tenant App 2.6, you cannot access the vRealize Operations Tenant App plug-in in VMware Cloud Director

If you use VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager to upgrade from vRealize Operations Tenant App 2.4 or 2.5 to version 2.6, in the VMware Cloud Director HTML5 UI, when you select the vRealize Operations Tenant App plug-in, the operation fails with a Time out error message.

Workaround: Deploy vRealize Operations Tenant App 2.6 as a new installation. For information, see Deploy vRealize Operations Manager Tenant App.
