In VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager, you can add users from configured external authentication sources and assign these users with different roles in VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager.
Prerequisites
- If you log in as an imported user, verify that you have the USERS_MANAGEMENT permission.
- Verify that the external authentication source is configured in VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager. See Configure an External Authentication Source in Your VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager.
Procedure
- In the top navigation bar, click Administration.
- Click User Management.
- In the left panel, select Users and Groups
- Click Add User.
- From the Authentication Instance Name drop-down menu, select the source name.
- Enter the name of a user that exists in the external authentication source.
- From the Role Name drop-down menu, select a role for the user.
- Click Add User.
What to do next
- If the imported user is a member of a group and you want to enable VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager to discover and map the group to the user, you must also import the group. After the first login of the imported user, the appliance maps the user to the respective group. See Import a Group From an External Authentication Source to VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager.
- To login to VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager using the imported user, on the VMware Cloud Provider Lifecycle Manager login screen, select the external authentication source and enter the credentials of the imported user.
