This section helps you to configure the VMware Site Recovery on your SDDC environment on VMware Cloud on GovCloud.

You can configure the VMware Site Recovery Add-on service to enable VMware Cloud on GovCloud SDDC for DR use cases. In most cases, VMware Site Recovery is configured and used the same way as in the commercial VMware Site Recovery offering, so you can use the standard documentation for configuring and operating the service. For more information, see VMware Site Recovery

To use the VMware Site Recovery (VSR) in GovCloud, ensure to observe the following guidelines:
  1. In the environment with an on-premises protected site and a VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC recovery site, you must drive all VMware Site Recovery workflows from the SDDC vCenter/Site Recovery UI. You can authenticate to Workspace One through ADFS to access the vCenter and Site Recovery UIs in the SDDC. In the Log In Site window use your credentials to access the remote vCenter. Enter the user name and password for the on-prem site and proceed with the VMware Site Recovery workflows. You cannot drive these workflows from their on-prem vCenter or Site Recovery UIs. Site Recovery workflow is always possible from the on-prem site.
  2. In the environment with a VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC protected site and a VMware Cloud on AWS SDDC recovery site, the federated login (Example: with ADFS) is configured for all SDDCs in the organization. The federated login can be used in subsequent cases after the VSR UI is previously opened and paired. When prompted to Log In Site window, you can choose either option below:
    • Log In to use the remote login authentication.

      Remote Log In

    • Enable the local identity provider and provide login credentials.
